Karachi is enormous, loud and much more relaxed than its reputation. It is also the way in to Sindh: Mohenjo-daro, one of the great cities of the Bronze Age, the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar at Sehwan, and the necropolis at Makli. The season is November to February; outside that the heat is punishing.
- Mohenjo-daro, four and a half thousand years old and almost empty
- Thursday-night dhamaal at Sehwan Sharif
- The Makli necropolis at Thatta, a UNESCO site the size of a town
- Karachi seafood, and Empress Market
The honest downsides
- April to October is extremely hot and humid. Go between November and February.
- Traffic and distances inside Karachi eat a lot of the day.
- Mohenjo-daro is a long way from anywhere. Fly to Sukkur or Moenjodaro if you can.
